28 Hour Day

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

I recently read this article. It has some good points, but I don’t know if I would like have 6 days a week. I like my weekends, even though they are pretty short. Then again, more hours in a day means I get to sleep in more, and have more time to do the things that I enjoy.

Emails Galore

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

Just looking through my Hotmail inbox, and noticed that I have 570 email messages in my inbox. Most of these emails are emails from friends or other people that I haven’t bothered to sort, reply, or delete.

I don’t know why I even bothered to post that. Hah.

Found this comic, found it funny. Sorta.

I am a geek.

The Xbox 360 is coming out November 22. I will not be buying this, at least until the prices are cheap. I am however, considering selling my Xbox. Email me with offers. Comes with 4 controllers (1 is not working, but it has a warranty, im just too busy to get a new one). Xbox Live account, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Halo 2, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon something or other, Amped 2, a tennis game, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, etc. The xbox has approx 16 months left on its warranty, its been sitting in a box for a few months, as I haven’t played it.

Also, if any of you are using my RSS Feed, let me know how it looks. Thanks!

DoD: Source Date Set

Saturday, September 10th, 2005

I found this while browsing the internet. It is a transcript of Steve Jobs Stanford graduation speech. Read it. I did, and it I let the words sink in, and it inspired me.

I started up Steam this morning, and was pleasantly surprised by an update. The update news says the following:

Preloading of Day of Defeat: Source will begin next week. It will be released and ready to play on September 26th. Once we get closer to that date, we’ll set an exact time for when we’ll “throw the switch.”

Preloading the game allows people to have the entire game on their hard drive in encrypted form so that, if already purchased or pre-ordered, it will be playable at the moment it is released. Dedicated server administrators will also have some time to get their servers up and running before the 26th.

There is also some pretty exciting news on the MOD front, where the team over at Dystopia is preparing to release a demo of their game today at 11:59 GMT. Head on over to the Dystopia page to check out their release

I can’t wait for DoD: Source. I am going to have to upgrade my Steam account to bronze, but this game is going to rock! I just know it. Also, has anyone tried playing this Dystopia game? I went to their website and it looks pretty cool. Here is a funny pic.

Here is a pretty picture of Stonehedge.

Wow. Here is a story about some supposed conspiracy theory about NASA and Mars. It made me think though, about how much we are told, and just believe. What have you been told lately, and just believed? I’ve been told a lot of stuff and just believed it. Some of it in Church, some of it from the news, and some of it from friends.

Google Rocks

Saturday, September 10th, 2005

Yay, another post.

Well, I just noticed that my Gmail invites are at 100, instead of 50. I think this just changed recently, but I could be wrong. Also, they have more then 2.5 gigs of space. I think I should get a few friends of mine together and have us all upload songs to a Gmail account, and it would make it easier to share good songs in between semi-large groups of people. (I in no way condone pirating music, the songs I am speaking of have been released under the Creative Commons act. *wink*)

I just installed Google Desktop on my computer, and when I went to google to search for a plugin, I noticed that I can now search my desktop from my browser. That is pretty cool, but also a little wierd/scary. Wow, I just searched for a word, and it’s showing me all my msn logs, and stuff. Pretty cool.

There is also a sidebar feature, which takes up a lot of room in my opinion on the screen, but it has tons of features. There is a Photo section that shows you files on your computer, it has Google Talk built into it. There is a notepad feature, News, Web Clips, list of recently opened files and viewed webpages. Also there is weather and of course, a place to type in search queries. Click here for a screenshot. Once I remove a bunch of the functions such as weather, news, etc, I will consider using this regularily. I will have to start using the Google Desktop more though, because im still amazed. :) I’m sure a nerd.

TFK Concert

Tuesday, September 6th, 2005

Last night was the Thousand Foot Krutch concert. I was slightly disappointed by the whole night, but the Thousand Foot Krutch performance was top notch. The sound quality was not as good as it should have been, but that is to be expected.

There were 5 bands playing, including TFK and a bunch of smaller bands. Since TFK was headlining it, they went last. I went into the mosh pit right away, because its pretty hard to get in the front of the moshpit once the best band is playing. I didn’t really enjoy the other bands much, and I spent approx 1.45 hours in the mosh pit before I heard the news. The gear that belonged to TFK did not get delivered or something, so they had to get everyone out of the sanctuary, and do a full sound check. I was very annoyed, as I was dripping with sweat. So we waited and waited and waited to be allowed to get back in. I was with some random guys and we sang larry boy songs, and other random things.

We were finally allowed back in after what seemed like forever. I went right down into the centre of the mosh pit, but they made us wait even longer just standing. I left the moshpit for some reason, I can’t remember why. I think I wanted water or something. As soon as I came back, the lights turned off and the show started. I tried to get back into the moshpit but this security guard would not let me in. I was pretty ticked, and that pretty much spoiled the show for me. My ear still hurts and is ringing, I was in front of one of the speakers. Anyway, so when there were only perhaps 3-4 songs left, I jumped over a pew and got into the moshpit for the resh of it. In the end, it was a good show, but I would have been happy with 2 good bands, instead of 1 good band and 5 so-so bands.

Edit: One thing I forgot to put in here. During the second band’s set, the guy I was standing before reaches down and picks up an open knife with a 3″-4″ long blade. He said that “thats the second one that I’ve found. If I find out who is doing this im going to..”. Anyway, so I told my sister to not go in the mosh pit, yet she did anyway. I was slightly annoyed at her for that, but hey I don’t want to stop her fun. I had fun in the mosh pit too. Although it was mostly jumping up and down, because the security guys were a little anal. I guess it was nice because we had protection. I saw Matt Quigley there, he was one of the security guards at the stage.

Site Breach

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

Lots of stuff to blog about today. First of all, today I went to Ridgefest, and I enjoyed it. There were some skate competitions, bmx tricks, some bands, etc etc. I wasn’t terribly into the music, but im not into punk/screamo much. The bands didn’t scream a ton, but there were elements of it. I did not mosh..because there were certain people there that I did not want to meet in the mosh pit. The event went awesome, I thought, for something that was made in Maple Ridge.

I have taken so many photos lately, and I do not feel like uploading them somewhere such as DeviantArt. I think I am going to examine solutions such as Coppermine Photo Gallery. I have used it in the past for a youth oriented website that I run, and I found that it works well. I will also probably upload some of my better stuff on my Flickr Account. For now I will upload everything there, so stay tuned.

One of the websites that I run was just breached. I was running Greymatter to power the news backend, which I realize now was a mistake, as they do not offer any easy updating solutions, or support. I will be moving the website over to WordPress, which is what I use to power this website. I will probably redo the whole website, as it was designed to accommodate Greymatter. It was not anything serious from what I can tell, but I have contacted my webhost to double-check. It was probably a script run by a script kiddie. I have not yet decided whether I will leave the site as it is, or remove it. I will eventually remove it, so I have posted pictures of the breach here, here and here.

I will upload a bunch of my pictures to my flickr account, if you have flickr add me, or if you dont have it..well you should really sign up, its great! :)

Last night I was browsing through my rss reader looking at random feeds. I had looked at some pictures of the devestation caused by Hurricane Katrina before, but reading first hand about someone that is in the middle of it just… I don’t know but it impacted me on a deep level. I will be praying for him and his companions. I was captivated by what he had to say, I could not stop reading it.

Part of me wishes I was there assisting them in whatever I way I can. The other part of me is glad and thankful that I live where I am. What a cool game that would make though, if you read the blog and some of the things he mentions, corrupt police, looting, survival, etc. He has a live webcam feed, hopefully I will get to see something other then the window or something later tonight.

I have been browsing pictures that are associated with the livejournal (blog) that I am reading constantly, and I am in the chat room. The link to interdictor is here.

The pictures below are only a few of the pictures: (Click on a picture to see a bigger version)

EDIT: The source of the pictures has gone offline, and unfortunately I do not have these pictures locally.
